Shay’s main focus in 2024:
YouTube as a vehicle for long form content
Repurposing on my blog; I experimented with the search query “How to elope in Montana” and got to #1 in video results quickly and the blog post climbed to the top of Google pretty quickly too — I’d give the video like a C, I didn’t add much text or graphics or interesting bits to it, I just basically talked through my blog post
Interviewing other vendors to help generate content, SEO for those search terms, and networking
Treating short form vertical video as a part time job — being extremely disciplined with batching because lol I will not do it daily or even weekly have you met me
Devin’s main focus in 2024:
YouTube as a “blog” for super 8 mm films
Research phase: keywords that people are searching for, keywords for what I want to be ranked for, optimizing my account in advance settings
Adding more searchable information in the description section
Short form video for Youtube + Pinterest
Experiment with super 8 clips on pinterest and link back to blogs or full youtube videos
Shorts for youtube: solely super 8 mm clips and talking head about super 8
More intentional social media: copy writers interviewed my past clients and they all said they really connected with me and decided to book with me after seeing my social posts and stories
Create soulful connect for clients to connect with
Maybe storytelling through talking heads? And Continue storytelling through captions
Showing myself outside of photography more on social and blog posts
More storytelling (gallery) blog posts instead of educational/informational
First action step for our 2024 marketing plan — reverse engineer what you’re trying to sell:
Define your offers super specifically — like every single way you intend your business to make money, jot those down
Next to each offer, define who you’re selling to/who you’re talking to/who you can serve.
The next step is twofold — what can you say to those people to help them? And then how can you get in front of them?
Next, we need to think about searchability, key words:
What is every single thing you would want to rank #1 in search results for? No matter how generic or specific, just brain dump those search terms — Montana wedding photographer, Glacier National Park elopement videographer, traveling elopement photographer, destination weddings — broad, specific, whatever.
Once those are defined, then you know what keywords to orient your content strategy around — be on the nose with these keywords in the title, description, hashtags, closed captioning, literally everywhere that you can write those in…write them in.
Once our key words are alllll listed out, then we can start making a plan to implement:
Implementation:
Long term vs. short term strategy
Organic content
Long form content vs. short form content
Function of long form
Repurposing long form
Short form organic content at scale!!
Submissions/collaborations
Publications
uest blogging (I got asked by a DJ for an interview they could put on their blog after my St Louis wedding - yes they made it sound great for me - but great free content for them!!)G
Audience borrowing — IG lives, collaborative posts
Paid ads
Google, FB, IG
Vendor Directories
